It’s been an unending burst of energy at #SMWLagos 2018! If you missed the first two days of the conference, here is a recap of Day 1 and Day 2.

And now here’s your Day 3 digest:

The discourse featured Chinedu Chukwuji (COSON), Ezegozie Eze (Universal Music Group Africa), Seun Bankuli (Bankuli Entertainment), Ubi Frankilin (Made Men Music Group) and it was moderated by Dami Elebe. Artists need to build up the power of the collective to be able to fight for their rights. Changing the Game: Artists as Leaders – This panel explained why artists need to do more with their platforms as thought leaders and influencers in terms of taking more risks and building new models of business. Artists need to leverage their brands with merchandise and channel it appropriately. It is important to put structures in place and make the music industry more professional. Panelists for this session included D’banj, Michael Ugwu (Sony Africa), Obi Asika (Dragon Africa), Uzoma Dozie (Diamond Bank) and was moderated by Chin Okeke.

The panel was moderated by Maria Okanrende and it featured Godwin Tom, Lanre Masha (Trace), Akintunde Bada (Viacom) and Tec (Show Dem Camp). Artists need to define what story they want to tell and determine the content to be promoted. It is also important to know what you want to do with your brand and create a strategy to achieve.
